Simply Ice Cream
Simply
Ice Cream is an independent luxury ice cream producer based in
rural Ashford, and is one of the biggest business success stories
of 2009.
Simply Ice Cream was set up in 2005, off the
back of a successful catering business. Having supplied homemade
ice cream at numerous functions, and always having guests ask where
they could buy the amazing product, owner Sally Newall decided to
approach her local farm shop in Sellindge - Potten Farm about
stocking the product.
After a six month trial at the local farmshop,
the business was able to expand into more farm shops and
businesses, and now supplies approximately 140 outlets across the
South East.
One of the biggest coups came when Waitrose
chose to stock their range of delicious homemade ice creams at
several Kentish stores.
Simply Ice Cream now supplies to upwards of 40
Waitrose supermarkets in the South East, and its signature flavour
– Honeycomb Crunch – was featured on BBC1’s Saturday Kitchen and
praised by presenter james Martin as 'the best bought ice cream
available’.
So far, it has won four industry awards
and has been nominated in several categories, including Kent Food
Product of the Year, in the Taste of Kent Awards 2009.
Sally Newall said: “I grew up in Kent, my
family built a house here, and we are lucky to have a business
based in this beautiful countryside.”
“One of the best things about Ashford is its
fantastic transport links. We now supply to Essex, Surrey, Sussex
and the rest of Kent, and the town’s links have enabled us to do
this easily.”
