Wildlife and Biodiversity
Biodiversity
describes the variety of life around us, including all wild plants
and animals and their habitats. Ashford is home to a diverse range
of species and contains a number of Sites of Special Scientific
Interest (SSSI) and
National Nature Reserves (NNR) chosen because of their
national importance for wildlife.
The South Willesborough Dykes is a Site of Nature Conservation
Interest (SNCI) and a wetland
habitat which is home to a wide variety of plants, invertebrates,
reptiles, amphibians, birds and small mammals.
