Buses

There are three key areas proposed to improve bus travel in Ashford:

• The existing bus services will be improved and extended to serve new development areas.
• Three new Park and Ride schemes on the edge of town will provide express services to the town centre, Stations and Designer Outlet Shopping Village.
• A new SMARTLINK service will be phased in to serve the key housing and employment areas.
  
  

SMARTLINK Bus Rapid Transit System

SMARTLINK is a proposed public transport scheme. It will link Chilmington Green and Cheesmans Green, with main employment areas of Cobbs Wood, Eureka Park and Orbital Park/Sevington. SMARTLINK will provide a high frequent service and faster journeys into town than by car.

This scheme recently received a boost when the Government agreed to invest in the scheme, which was recommended by the South East England Regional Transport Board.
