Road Improvements
To support Ashford's growth there are
plans to improve the capacity of the Motorway junctions and
access to them, improve existing road junctions and for better
traffic management. Some of the proposals are detailed below.
M20 Junction 10
Work on a £7 million scheme to tackle
congestion at junction 10 of the M20 finished in September 2007. In
preparation for new development in the area extra lane space is
being provided for traffic joining and leaving the M20 motorway at
the junction.
For more information on the scheme visit the Highways Agency
M20 Junction 10a
There are proposals for a new junction 10a to the
south east of the town connecting with the A2070 via a new dual
carriageway road.
M20 Junction 9
Improvements to the capacity and traffic
signalling of the junction are proposed. This will include widening
the approach roads, and improving the capacity of the Drovers
roundabout by enlarging the junction and improving signalling.
A28 Chart Road
There is a proposal to turn the current
carriageway between the Tank roundabout and the Brookfield Road
roundabout into two lanes each way to improve capacity to and from
the south of the town.
